I've included a selection of my research, writing, & journalism below. My research, like my work, tends to fall within the realms education, health, and government. I currently focus on the influence of money in politics, educational achievement, and health policy.

Is PrEP, the HIV prevention medication, still a cost-effective intervention after accounting for behavior change in at-risk groups?

I find that the behavior changes incited by starting PrEP increase STI treatment costs, but PrEP is still a highly cost-effective investment to improve at-risk health. Here's the analysis.

Did the Trump administration's "surge" judge policy change immigration decisions at the border for those seeking asylum?

Our analysis of public data revealed that surge judges are indeed harsher than non-surge judges when deciding whether to release asylum-seekers on bond. Take a look at our report.

How should we evaluate the encryption responsibilities of technology companies?

 Data privacy is central to individual autonomy. I propose a framework here to evaluate the risks to individual autonomy, finding encryption to be a categorical imperative in most cases.

Was Free Basics, Facebook's program with the goal of increasing internet access, a manifestation of colonial thinking and behavior?

As I explore here, Free Basics represented an effort by Facebook to establish dominance over India's digital sphere, sparking a resistance movement rooted in anti-colonial sentiment

How do hands-on engineering educational experiences advance self-confidence and belonging for students of different backgrounds?

We find that students of  all backgrounds make relatively equal gains in their confidence as innovators and engineers, but less equal gains in the connection between mind, heart, and hands. See our process here.

How might we target outreach efforts to build a winning coalition of new Democratic voters in the upcoming Georgia 2020 senate race?

I find that there may be value in directed get-out-the-vote efforts in right-leaning southeastern counties as more and more people in cities are contacted and canvassed. My analysis is here.
